Early Years
Born in Los Angeles, California, Balthazar Getty grew up in San Francisco. He studied in a private boarding school in Britain called Gordonstoun School, an elite school that educated three generations of British Royal Family. Grandson of a famous oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, Balthazar's great-grandfather was the founder of the Getty Oil Company. He was considered one of the richest men in the world at one time one. His mother is a documentary filmmaker and professional photographer. He has a sister called Anna.

Born on January 22, 1975, Balthazar Getty was spotted at a very young age in his art school. He was invited for audition for a film role at a tender age of 14. He auditioned for his first film in 1989. And thus began Balthazar Getty career.

Early Career
Balthazar Getty career in the entertainment industry began with his first film Lord of the Flies in 1990. Balthazar Getty job in the film Lord of the Flies was appreciated and soon roles started coming his way. Though he began his career with Lord of the Flies, but the film released as his second film. The release of the film got delayed due to post-production work. His second film - The Turn of the Screw actually released first. Balthazar Getty career took a great start with projects like White Squall, Dead Beat, Where the Day Takes You, Lost Highway and Natural Born Killers.

Later Career
Coming from a family which had cases of drug abuse, Getty also could not stay away from it. He got addicted to heroin and there are reports suggesting that he was almost arrested. The incident jolted him and he gave up his habit and began his career with new commitment. Balthazar Getty career became steady again from 2000. He appeared in films like MacArthur Park, The Center of the World and Four Dogs Playing Poker. He was also the executive producer for 'Shadow Hours'.

Balthazar Getty job in television series like Traffic and Alias and Charmed was well received by the audience. His role as Thomas Walker in the 'Brothers & Sisters' was also very well appreciated.

Personal Life
His onscreen journey was exciting and so was his off screen life. He married Rosetta Millington, a fashion designer in 2000. Blessed with four children, Getty's marriage was in trouble in 2008 when he was photographed kissing a topless Sienna Miller. He was separated from his wife in 2008 only to be reunited in 2009.
