Employment Status: Full-time, probationary non-exempt position.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. Work schedule may be adjusted to support performances during evenings or weekends.

The incumbent will serve as an Instructional Support Technician for the Music Department. Under direct supervision of the Department Chair of Music, the incumbent's responsibilities include:
Maintain locked security of (a) the Department Recital Hall when not in use, (b) all pianos therein, (c) the Tech Recording/Live Sound Booth.
Training on all existing and future hardware/software configurations.
Sound Recording: (remixing, create audio files, burn CD's), download onto server within 24 hrs.
Live Sound Design: set up and engineer live system to include sound check, performance, troubleshooting.
Lighting Design: set up and program lighting board, adjust existing fixtures; cans/gels to stage needs.
Stage Management-Design: Build stage sets when required, set up all performances according to stage plots.
Coordinate the use and scheduling of all departmental performances, rehearsals, and laboratory spaces.
Create and maintain a master on-and-off campus performance schedule/calendar.
Coordinate and schedule requests for use of the departmental spaces from outside the department, including off-campus entities.
Ensure departmental compliance with all relevant university regulations regarding events scheduling.
Maintain storage and supervise departmental inventory of musical instruments, sound and lighting equipment, computer software and hardware, including, pricing.
Report to department chair on a quarterly basis regarding current purchasing, maintenance, and repair needs.
Ensure departmental compliance with all relevant university and regulations regarding hiring outside contractors, maintenance or repair technicians.
Recruit, train, organize and assign technical work by multiple student assistants in support of the department's facility and performance related needs in accordance with university safety guidelines.
Collaborate with and advise faculty members and other staff in planning and executing overall design, set construction, and staging of all musical performances, including opera productions.
Advise faculty members on facilities and equipment needs related to the development of academic programs.
Provide assistance in the event of any smart classroom equipment issues.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles of performing support services.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques related to the discipline and the curriculum.
Knowledge of the materials and supplies in the curriculum and the curriculum and their uses.
Ability to plan, organize, and schedule activities.
Ability to operate technical equipment related to the discipline.
Ability to maintain records.
Ability to adjust and perform simple maintenance of technical and scientific equipment.
Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment in a discipline related to the area to which assigned.
Or, equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Or equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
