Full-Time Visiting Faculty in Choral Ensembles and Music Education
The Department of Music at Xavier University seeks a dynamic educator for a full-time Visiting Faculty position in Choral Ensembles and Music Education to begin in the Fall of 2018. The successful candidate will oversee the choirs, direct one large and one small ensemble (both auditioned), teach Choral Methods along with other courses related to the candidate’s interests and expertise (such as Aural Skills), mentor and observe student teachers, and be able to engage diverse groups of students in learning opportunities. The position requires a master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in Choral Conducting by the start of the appointment and K-12 teaching experience. Demonstrated excellence in choral direction is required, and college teaching experience is preferred.
In addition to an accomplished and active educator and conductor, we seek a positive and energetic program builder who will recruit for the university and choral program by organizing the Honor Choir Festival and outreach events, be a fully engaged member of the department and university communities, and interact creatively with music faculty members, local teachers, and other members of the artistic community. , which challenges students to collaborate across the arts. The successful candidate will seek opportunities to work closely with faculty across programs in the School to support SAI students.
