Position Information Department Shepherd School of Music Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Benefits Eligible Yes Eligible for Overtime Yes Position Summary The Music Admissions Assistant \/ Receptionist will provide support to the Shepherd School of Music. S\/he will assist in the coordination of music applications, provide information to prospective students, arrange prospective student visits and act as the receptionist for The Shepherd School of Music. This position manages general email accounts for Music Admissions and the Shepherd School and provides some clerical support, along with assisting faculty with administrative duties. Education Required HS Diploma or equivalent Concentration \/ Degree Type Substitution for Education Requirement Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement. Education Preferred Bachelor\u2019s degree. Experience Required 3 years Type of Experience Related office experience. Experience Preferred - Experience working in a university environment. - Customer service and or marketing experience. EXTERNAL: Extensive contact with prospective students and their families, Shepherd School Alumni and the Rice community. Physical Demands Most of time spent in typical office environment, but must be able to move from one building to another on campus. Interruptions are frequent and often must work under pressure. Working Conditions There are times when the workload is extremely heavy, particularly at the beginning and end of each semester, and to meet application and audition deadlines.
