GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOBMusic has always been an integral part of the Salvation Army culture. A great number of cadets coming into training today are not only new to The Salvation Army, but new to church culture and have limited knowledge of sacred music heritage. As leaders in The Salvation Army, future officers will need to be able to utilize music to enhance the spiritual and religious experiences for soldiers and those that enter the Army’s varied ministries. The Music Coordinator will equip cadets in these areas and in the implementation of the CFOT choral and instrumental programs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Advisor for cadet Field Training music programs which would include selection of music, rehearsals, and accompaniment preparationAttendance at faculty and staff meetings as assignedCompile the CFOT Music & Arts Activity Report for the Territorial Music CommitteeCoordinate lesson program for cadets, officer staff, and their childrenCoordinate music electives – secure instructors, obtain teaching materials, and coordinate attendance and gradingCoordinate and teach MEIII Worship Intensive for 1st Year CadetsCoordinate preparation of CFOT youth participation in Star SearchCoordinate the preparation and implementation of music for weekly Chapel Services, Spiritual Days, and Family Worship Sundays at CFOTCoordination of contemporary music ensemble ministry – lead and advise as neededCoordination of music auditions of incoming cadets and music elective placementCreate a music resource bank available to all students associated with the CFOTLead all music rehearsals – be available for evening rehearsals as neededLead CFOT Band and prepare the group to participate in worship and special events.Lead CFOT Cadet Chorus and coordinate master classesLead various vocal and instrumental ensembles as neededPlan, acquire and develop music instructional materials for CFOTProvide required academic musical instruction and development for cadetsResponsibility for all CCLI matters and reportsSupervision of cadets on Music Detail in the following:Maintenance and care of CFOT Music Library – including digital copyMaintenance and care for CFOT music equipment inventory – include digital copyIssuance of CFOT instruments to officers, cadets and childrenMaintenance of humidifier systems in chapel, lecture hall and lounge pianosSetting up and moving of music equipment as needed for CFOT gatherings, events and activitiesMaintenance and cleaning of the band roomSet-up the band room for various rehearsalsPerform all other duties as assigned by supervisorMINIMUM EDUCATION and\/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust be a SalvationistStrong organization and communication skills.Strong computer skills.The Salvation Army College for Officer Training in Suffern, New York, purposes to develop men and women with the theological understanding, street-level skills and Salvationist spirit required to advance the mission of the Army expressed in its international statement.
