The University of Memphis invites applications for the following full time, tenure track position in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music beginning August, 2018.
Prepare and/or conduct up to two main-stage opera productions each school year; prepare and conduct smaller programs such as opera scenes programs; coach and/or play rehearsals, prepare chorus, coach students on audition repertoire, collaborate on faculty recitals, schedule all musical rehearsals; actively recruit for the opera program, mentor undergraduate and graduate voice students; develop innovative programming. Additional responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate and graduate vocal diction and/or other classes as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications
Excellent keyboard and conducting skills. Experience coaching singers and extensive language skills required. MM degree minimum. Candidate must demonstrate potential for continued scholarly research/creative activities. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.
