Sr. Network Engineer - Media Post Production Engineering','FOX0003U5','Americas-US-CA-Los Angeles','!*!The Media Post Production Engineering team is a core group of Engineers with a startup mentality within 20th Century Fox, a Fortune 500 company.  The primary responsibility of this role is to design, maintain, support, and troubleshoot the Network environment used by the internal post production team on the 20thCentury Fox movie studio lot.  As a key member of this agile team you will work closely with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, QA Engineers, and Production staff (end users) to Design and configure Ethernet infrastructure to maximize performance and security of a Studio Post Production environment. You will work closely with the Information Security team to protect the Studio content network, rapidly troubleshoot network issues at all levels as they arise and coordinate network access and utilization for multiple user populations with special requirements.

This is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated Sr. Network Administrator with quality organizational and communication skills who finds fulfillment in seeing firsthand their positive impact towards support the administration, resilience, architecture, and design of achieve highly efficient network Topologies to meet the rising demand of throughput and security.

General Summary

Designs, architects, installs, administrates, maintains, supports, and troubleshoots all Network operations associated with the Media Post Production Pipeline and Media Asset Management layer. A key contributor towards security best practices.


1) Administration:

Install, upgrade and administer Brocade Ethernet Fabric

Install, upgrade and administer Palo Alto Firewalls

Install, upgrade and administer BlueCoat secure Gateway

Familiarity with Aspera and Signiant file transfer technologies

Perform Network tuning including monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance of the Ethernet fabric

Perform proactive Network maintenance

Participate as Subject Matter Expert (SME) as required for design reviews and technology and tool selection

Adheres to department standards, policies, procedures and industry best practices

Works with other System Engineers to continuously improve production support levels

Communicates plans, status and issues to management on a regular basis

2) Archival, Backup and Recovery: 

Plan, perform and monitor Network, router and Firewall backups

3) Security: 

Maintain and monitor IP security

Works closely with Information Security team

Works closely with Systems Engineers to provide a secure and reliable Network environment

4) Production Support:

Provide 24x7 on call production support

Serves as escalation point for networking issues

Works closely with other system administrators, Software Engineers and production personnel to gain a thorough understanding of the architecture of the Production system being supported

Helps to develop standards, policies and procedures as well as best practices documentation

5) Maintenance:

Communicate plans, status and issues to management on a regular basis

Adhere to and enforces department standards, policies, procedures and industry best practices

6) Design and Architecture:

Logical/Physical Network Topology design and implementation

Design Hybrid Cloud Network topologies

Participate as Subject Matter Expert (SME) as required for design reviews and technology and tool selection

Keep current on network security, network hardware, 3rd party tools and industry standards

Ensures infrastructure standards and best practices are followed

7) Technology Reviews:

Researches and reviews new networking and IP security technologies, operating system support and other 3rd party technologies

Evaluates new technologies against competitors and validate the usability of the technology

8) Other Duties As Required.

','!*!Required Experience:

Minimum 8 years Network and IPsec experience

Minimum 6 years working with Brocade, Cisco or Arista

Minimum 3 years NextGen Firewall experience, like Palo Alto, FortiNet, CheckPoint

Experience designing Network Topologies

Advanced routing protocol (OSPF, BGP) experience

Experience with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Linux and Windows Operating Systems

Optional Experience:

Experience with Infoblox IP management

Experience with Juniper Firewalls

Experience with Fiber Channel Switches

Required Knowledge: 

Network design with emphasis on throughput and security

Network hardware configuration on Brocade and Cisco

Troubleshoot LAN and WAN issues

Expertise with file transfer systems, including Aspera and Signiant

Network project management, including budgeting and vendor relations

Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex solutions to non-technical audiences

Familiarity with AWS VPCs from a network perspective

Optional Knowledge: 

Proxy/Secure Gateway experience – BlueCoat preferred

Privileged Identity Management Experience – Centrify Privilege Services preferred


Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field-of-study with network engineering focus or equivalent experience

BCNA, CCNA or equivalent certification

Brocade Ethernet Fabric experience

Self-motivated with clear communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proven diagnostic problem solving and solution development capabilities required

Has the ability to manage a diversified workload with strong organizational skills.

Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, clients and other IT personnel.

Ability to write and present effective materials, including technical diagrams and flowcharts.

Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers
