To further this mission, Rocky Mountain Public Media seeks a Broadcast & Sound Engineer to help promote our services to the audiences we serve throughout the state.
Ability to work 40 hours per week with odd hours varying as needed. Evaluate quality of audio, video, transport stream and network signals. Routinely interact with and troubleshoot systems incorporating Windows, Mac OS X, Unix, Linux and other operating systems. Install and integrate new equipment and cabling in all technical areas. Assist others in Engineering team with all technical and operational systems. General work on transmitters and transmission chains. Engineer live/remote broadcast performances. Ability to setup A/V projectors & communications for company conferences. Coordinate and engineer ISDN interviews & broadcasts. Respond to emergency requests to solve or provide work-around solutions for failed systems. Maintain all of KUVO’s broadcast distribution streams; Primary FM, HD1, HD2, HD3, and Streaming servers. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field and/or equivalent experience. Minimum three years of experience as a hands-on engineer in a broadcast and/or post-production environment. Minimum two years of experience with setup and configuration of Windows, Mac and Linux servers and/or workstations in a domain environment. Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually with minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite O365. Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills. Strong organizational skills. Establishing priorities with multiple projects under tight deadlines. Ability to create clear and precise documentation.
PERFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Strong working knowledge and understanding of Network infrastructure and analysis tools, including Ethernet switches, routers and firewalls. Candidates with domain experience and certification(s) experience are preferred. Working knowledge and understanding of large-scale multichannel broadcast automation systems. Strong working knowledge of post-production video and audio Mac-based editing systems and software including Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and Pro Tools. Strong working knowledge and understanding of Fiber channel switches and network topologies is preferred. Strong working knowledge and understanding of NAS and SAN storage infrastructure and file systems. Working knowledge and understanding of complex media systems and workflows encompassing file ingest, encoding, transcoding and delivery. Working knowledge and understanding of traditional broadcast engineering standards and equipment including HD/SD digital video/audio servers, signal processors, routers, patch panels, cabling and test equipment.
