General Summary
This is a non-benefited, part-time position, and is either less than 19 or 29 hours a week depending on the position. This position requires night and weekend shift availability.

The following duties are normal for this position. General Purpose
Positions allocable to this class report to a Recreation Services Leader and/or a Recreation Coordinator and are responsible for following the directions to implement educational, cultural, athletic, and special event recreation and program activities. Employees must be able to follow the lead of the Recreation Services Leader and/or Recreation Coordinator and have knowledge of facility operations, recreation programs and activities; knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service; the ability to work independently; the ability to follow a plan, be organized, and conduct recreation activities; the ability to lead individuals and groups of children, teens, and adults; and effective verbal and written communication skills.

This position is not supervisory but may be expected to perform leadership activities as required.
This position is FLSA – Non-Exempt and is Part-Time/Possibly Seasonal.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provides a safe and fun environment in which both patrons of all ages feel comfortable.
Provides corrective action as needed and maintaining order in compliance with established rules.
Observing and actively participate in activities.
Assists the lead in completing and reporting accidents or injuries occurring in the assigned area.
Communicate with the lead and supervisor concerning cleaning supplies and program material needed.
Develop positive relations with customers; communicate recreation programs information to participants and the public.
Maintaining facilities and equipment.
Assisting lead by making needed equipment available and monitoring use.
Providing routine information on facility rules and division activities to participants and the general public.
Assist with daily housekeeping duties.
Writes simple reports including completes daily reports, facility attendance and membership/rental forms.
Meets standards and objectives as outlined by supervisors.
Learns City rules and regulations involved with activities of registration, publicity, City policies and safety.
Performs cash handling procedures as needed, such as collecting fees for programs, services, or commodities and maintaining related records, opening and closing register, documenting overages and shortages, preparing deposits for review, and taking advance registration or reservations for facility use.
Incumbents in this class may be rotated or transferred to other facilities and/or assignments based on department or seasonal needs.
Performing unskilled clerical work and other duties relating to job requirements.
Develop positive relations with customers; communicate recreation programs information to participants and parents.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Front Desk positions
Assist with operations such as checking in guests.
Acts as the frontline staff at the front desk and performs tasks such as answering phones, taking registrations and processing payments.
Guides and counsels facility patrons/program participants on park/facility/program rules, care of equipment and acceptable conduct in a helpful, positive manner; assists patrons/program participants in providing information, direction, and education and responds to complaints, inquiries, and information requests.
Sets up membership tours, take applications and process payments.
Minimum and Preferred Entrance Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to the completion of the 10th grade (sophomore year), and at least six (6) months experience working in a professional setting. Position requires working flexible hours and availability for weekend, evening and holiday work.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid Course certification required within the first 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid Course; certification.
Previous babysitting experience desired
American Red Cross Babysitting Certificate desired
Previous public sector experience
Previous customer service experience
Previous sales experience for Front Desk positions
Previous babysitting experience desired for Child Watch positions
Previous sports experience for Youth & Adult Sports positions
Bilingual skills a plus.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job, may be substituted for Preferred Qualifications at the discretion of the hiring authority.
