Responsibilities
Role Purpose
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. News Group is looking for an experienced publicist to join its communications team, supporting and promoting the News Group's diverse and robust offering of streaming, digital and broadcast content across NBC News and MSNBC.
The role reports to the Vice President of Digital Communications and supports teams across the portfolio with content promotion, media relations, internal communications, speaking opportunities, administrative and operational press responsibilities, and more.
Essential Responsibilities
• Consistently pitch content, including exclusive interviews, news-making moments, and segments from the networks' platforms, including NBC News NOW, NBC News Digital, TODAY All Day, MSNBC Digital and more.
• Support the content promotion and press efforts across the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. News Group portfolio including NBC News' flagship brands and properties, TODAY, Nightly News with Lester Holt, Meet the Press, and Dateline, MSNBC, NBC News Digital, the networks' podcasts, social content, and more.
• Liaise and collaborate with Peacock PR for talent and content promotion for The Choice from MSNBC on Peacock.
• Keep team apprised of significant editorial series or special projects throughout the year and manage streaming contribution to network-wide releases and promotion.
• Assist in press planning, pitching, and monitoring around major digital projects or product launches.
• Perform administrative support tasks, including managing and upkeep of press lists, coverage documents, booking and staffing of reporter interviews work as a liaison between multiple departments, maintain editorial, conferences and awards calendars, bios and headshots and other assignments as required.
• Coordinate logistics of conference, media booking opportunities for reporters, editors, and executives of the NBC News and MSNBC Digital teams.
• Manage announcements, bios, media inquiries, talking points, photography, and events
• Assist with network-wide and breaking news events and social media initiatives
Qualifications
/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of four years of experience with
communications for news, content promotion, or similar
• Must be a strong writer with a demonstrated ability to
work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask, juggle and meet numerous deadlines
and identify press opportunities
• Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work
both independently and with a team
• Superior organization, creative skills, high attention to
detail
• Ability to exercise a high level of discretion in handling
confidential and sensitive information
• Willingness to travel, work overtime, and on weekends
with short notice
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY
Desired Characteristics
• Demonstrated skill and strong background in television,
news, digital media and politics
• Demonstrated experience with interfacing with media
contacts, including in digital media
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of the digital media landscape
• Experience using Cision, MuckRack, WordPress, Slack
• Content/editorial pitching experience
