POSITION OVERVIEW: The Red Sox are looking for a creative, meticulous writer and PR professional to support the club's Chief Communications Officer with all aspects of external and internal communications. The ideal candidate will produce original written content for internal and external audiences and help develop consistent messaging across a variety of channels. Outstanding writing, editing, and research skills are required for this role. Top candidate will also have a firm understanding of PR practices and principles, experience working directly with media and handling crisis communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Craft original and well-researched press releases, internal memos, and speeches
• Curate research materials to brief executives for events and meetings
• Regularly interact with media and assist in the distribution of press material
• Support the implementation of communication plans, including pitching media stories, coordinating press conferences, and assisting with grassroots marketing campaigns
• Collaborate with other internal departments and outside agencies to promote Red Sox initiatives
• Monitor press coverage daily and distribute clip reports with relevant stories
• Support team members with the development of presentations and reports
• Provide administrative support as needed
QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS:
• Bachelor's degree in English, communication studies, journalism, or related field
• Impeccable writing and editing skills
• Ability to tailor writing style to suit the target audience
• Capacity to work on multiple writing projects simultaneously
• Experience working with members of the media
• Advanced knowledge of Public Relations communication practices and principles
• Attentive to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Strong project management skills
• A respect for deadlines and capability to work with tight turnaround times
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to present ideas and information clearly
