This is responsible work in a lead capacity overseeing recreational programs in one or more areas within the Leisure Services Department's Park & Recreation Division. Responsibilities include organizing and supervising recreational programs and activities for all age groups. Managing buildings and facilities, scheduling, and supervising subordinate staff. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Considerable knowledge of public parks and recreation philosophy and objectives and the principles and practices used in organizing and directing recreational activities.
Working knowledge of first-aid methods and safety precautions.
Ability to plan, implement, and coordinate various activities and programs.
Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Training and Experience
Minimum of a four-year degree with major course work in Parks and Recreation, leisure, or related fields.
One-year experience supervising various recreation programs.
Or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
Valid Florida driver's license.
Posses (or ability to obtain within six months of employment) First Aid Certification.
Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
Copies of required certification(s) must be submitted with the application.
