Job Summary/Detail
Simon & Schuster is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to oversee the business in our Distribution and Fulfillment Operations facilities in Milan and Jackson, TN. This role will report into our Director of Human Resources based in Riverside NJ, and will be responsible for a diverse array of HR support activities related to the entire employee lifecycle.
Key Functions:
• Build effective partnerships with business unit management (in Milan/Jackson TN, and Riverside Operations) to maintain and continue building a culture of performance excellence.
• Work collaboratively as a member of the HR team and continually innovate by improving HR processes, tweaking existing programs or introducing new initiatives to drive the right business outcomes.
• Work with the employees to develop and maintain a culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance within an inclusive and diverse community.
• Serve as the primary resource for all employee relations issues and counseling at the locations; and reporting out to the Director of HR on all issues.
• Responsible for the organization development, change management and employee development.
• Responsible for onsite recruitment and retention, staffing and placement of regular and temporary employees. Partners with Riverside HR on onsite recruitment efforts.
• Maintain a safe working environment by promoting industry safe protocols and partnering with management on all safety procedures/safety committees/and required postings. Managing onsite workers compensation and post-accident testing protocols.
• Partner with Riverside HR/Payroll on payroll and compensation issues; in support of the TN employees. Will act as the liaison between Riverside HR/Payroll process and employees.
Qualifications:
What you bring to the team:
• Strong functional HR knowledge; familiar in disciplines of the HR function and stays current in emerging talent practices and developments.
• Proven track record of successfully working at all levels of the organization, demonstrating influence and client consulting skills with employees, managers and senior leadership
• Demonstrated ability to drive HR initiatives that support the business; with emphasis on programs designed for warehouse staff and production environments.
• Operates with a high sense of urgency and initiative; able to proactively anticipate issues while providing viable, alternative solutions to the business
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; skilled in communicating with diverse clients, both 1:1 and in large groups
• Ability to address employee relations issues, with the support of HR Director and Operations Leadership. Triage and respond to day-today employee issues or concerns.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed environment; strong collaboration skills with peers and corporate HR partners
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and statutes which govern policies and practices of hiring, compensation and benefits and general employment
• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and fun environment
• A minimum of 5 years of HR business partner experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
